NEWS |
HITS has entered into an agreement with the NHS Bucks partnership to deliver interpreting and translation services throughout Buckinghamshire. Following a formal tender process and presentations in Aylesbury and High Wycombe during October, HITS was selected in preference to a number of nationally-known commercial suppliers.
The NHS Bucks partnership comprises Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust, Chiltern & South Bucks PCT, Vale Of Aylesbury PCT, Wycombe PCT and Bucks Mental Health NHS Trust. The contract will cover 90 GP Surgeries, more than 40 separate Mental Health locations (wards, clinics, local outreach teams, etc) and three main hospital sites (High Wycombe, Stoke Mandeville and Amersham).
As part of this new agreement, HITS will commence an interpreter training programme within Buckinghamshire from January 2006. HITS will run training courses in Chesham, Aylesbury and High Wycombe during the first year of the agreement. In addition, Bucks residents will have an opportunity to study for the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) qualification.
The agreed service will commence on Wednesday, February 1st and run for a minimum of three years.
