NEWS

We are delighted to be able to announce that one of our French-speaking Interpreters, Katherine Danflous, has been awarded the Jaffer Hamid Cup for 2009 by the Chartered Institute of Linguists. The Cup is awarded on an annual basis to the leading candidate in the Local Government specialism of the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) examination

Ms Danflous received the Cup at a special ceremony at the Oxford & Cambridge University Club, Pall Mall, London, on Monday, November 9th.

This is the third occasion on which HITS or its students has received a national award from the Institute. In 2002, an Urdu-speaking student, Tahira Yasmin, also received the Jaffer Hamid Cup and, in 2007, HITS itself was awarded the Nuffield Trophy, as the overall leading DPSI centre of the year
