Herts interpreting & Translation Service is currently seeking individuals who would like to train as professional public service interpreters.

After completing training, interpreters will be eligible to undertake paid sessional work for the Service on behalf of Health Trusts and Local Authorities throughout Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire and  beyond, helping people who are not fluent in English to access information and services. They may also have the opportunity to undertake further training leading to the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting qualification.

Applicants must be aged 18 or over. They should be both fluent and literate in English and at least one other language. All languages are welcome.

Enthusiasm, the ability to learn, and a proven commitment to helping others is more important than formal qualifications or previous experience.

Assignments are likely to take place during normal office hours. However, there will be a significant period of notice on most occasions.

For more information about becoming a trainee interpreter, please contact us.
