Herts Interpreting & Translation Service
Founded in 2001, Herts Interpreting & Translation Service (HITS) is one of the largest and most successful independent, non-commercial services in the UK. Managed by the registered charity Community Action Dacorum, HITS provides language support services (telephone and face-to-face interpreting, translation, audio recordings, language assessments) for Health Trusts, Local Authorities, non-statutory sector organisations, commercial and private clients throughout Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and beyond.
From Saturday, July 1st, 2017, HITS will be the first-choice provider of face-to face interpreting on behalf of the INTRAN Partnership throughout Essex, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk. This will include work for Local Authorities, NHS Trusts and Criminal Justice Agencies.
As a training and examination centre for the internationally renowned Chartered Institute of Linguists, HITS provide interpreters trained to the standard of the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) – the accepted nationwide standard for public service interpreting.
This means that interpreters provided by HITS are fluent and literate in both target languages, conversant with the specialist terminology across a wide range of public services and committed to the proprieties of public service interpreting (e.g. confidentiality and impartiality).
As a not-for-profit organisation HITS is able to offer a highly professional, reliable, accessible and friendly service at an extremely competitive price.
