Customer Training

Interpreting session

In addition, this workshop offers guidance on the practicalities of booking an interpreter, how to commission a written translation, and how to develop language support services as part of an effective overall communications strategy.

This workshop introduces participants to the skills and qualities possessed by a professional public-service interpreter as well as the general principles of interpreting.

Through the use of tailor-made role-plays, in the company of trained interpreters, participants have an opportunity to acquire practical experience of managing an interpreting situation.

This workshop can be offered in one-hour, three-hour or full-day (six-hour) formats and can be designed to accommodate the specific area of work undertaken by the commissioning organisation.(whether public sector, voluntary sector or commercial sector).

Case study: Harlington House Hospice,

The HITS Training Team recently delivered a Working with Interpreters workshop for clinical and administrative staff for Harlington House Hospice, based on the site of Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood. Attended by more than 20 members of Hospice staff in-person and online, the session was provided as part of a reciprocal arrangement with the Hospice, whose Clinical Director, Dr Ros Taylor, had previously hosted a training session of palliative care for more than 40 HITS interpreters via video.
